THE HARE AND A TORTOISE

 

Once a hare met a tortoise. He saw a tortoise moving so slowly with a heavy shell on his back. Thus the hare laughed at the tortoise for his slow speed. The tortoise was very angry at this. He told, “I can’t run like you. But I can beat you In a race”. At once the hare readily accepted the challenge.

The starting point was fixed. A goat was present there. He was the starter. He gave the signal. The race began. The hare ran very swiftly at the beginning. He saw the tortoise was far behind. So, the hare thought taking a short nap. Let the tortoise come here and then he ran again and reach the goal first. Thinking that the hare fell asleep.

At that time, the tortoise went on slowly but steadily towards the goal. He didn’t stop for a single moment. Suddenly the hare woke up. Seeing the tortoise far ahead, he runs very fast but alas ! he could not reached it. In the meantime, the tortoise reached the goal and defeated the hare.

MORAL: Slow but steady achieve the goal.

The Foolish Crow

 

One day a crow searching for food. She was very hungry. After a long search, she found a piece of bread. She was holding bread in her beak and flew a near tree.

 Suddenly a cunning fox saw the crow. He thought some clever tricked to get the bread. He got an idea to his mind. The fox flattered the crow saying this “ What a lovely black colour bird it is, I am sure you have a melodious voice “ Please you sing a song for me.

The foolish crow was tricked. It became overwhelmed with joy. She started singing. As the crow opens her beak to sing then and there the piece of bread fell down.

 The clever fox went away with the piece of bread. They had paid a heavy price for her foolishness.

Moral: Be aware of flatterers

The Elephant and The Tiny Ant

 

Once upon a time, there lived a huge elephant in the jungle. He was very naughty and arrogant. He was bigger than other animals; he always troubled /disturbed them. Inside a hole in a tree, there lived a family of ants. They were a hard-working family.

One day, when the ant family was coming back for collecting their food the naughty elephant sprayed trunk full of water on them. The ant cried and said “you shouldn’t hurt like this. The elephant said, “shut up tiny ant, don’t talk like this keep quiet, otherwise I will kill you”.

Then they all decided to teach a lesson to the elephant.

The next day, the tiny ant slowly crept into the elephant’s trunk when the elephant was sleeping. She started biting him. The elephant woke up and tried to get the ant out, but failed to do so.

At last, the elephant begged sorry to the ant. The tiny ant said to the huge elephant “Hope now you understand how others feel when you hurt them”. At last, the ant took pity and come out to his trunk. He finally said sorry to the ant’s family and from that day he never ever troubled any animals again in the jungle.

Moral: Never underestimate anyone.

The Indigo Jackal

 

Once upon a time, there was a “Jackal. One day he came to a nearby village in search of food. Seeing him a group of mongrels (dogs) began barking and growling and attacked the Jackals from all sides. He ran for his life.

The Jackal did not know what to do and he fell into a vat of indigo dye water. Now the Jackal was full of dyed indigo colour.

Meanwhile the dogs had stopped barking. The dogs got scared then they ran away.

The indigo Jackal returned to the forest. All animals saw him and totally surprised that what had happened. In this situation, the cunning Jackal hatched a plan. He declared “I am the king of the forest. Bring me some food to eat now”.

The frightened animals agreed. They brought food to him. Now the Jackal never cold or hungry anymore.

After a long time, it rained heavily. The indigo colour of Jackal washed away. He did not come to know that all the other animals saw that it was a jackal and got angry.

The animals realized that they had been tricked. The king was nothing. They all began to chase him and threw the jackal out of the forest.

Moral: Lying does not last long.

The Golden Eggs And The Goose

 

Once a man lived in a village. He was very poor. He had a little farm in the village. There were many birds and one of them a wonderful bird that was a goose. Because it laid a glittering golden egg. He collects the eggs in a box. Afterward he took the eggs to the town and sold them one by one.

In a short time, he became rich. He was very happy. He lavishly lived in his life. The goose was the root of wealthiness.

But the man was very greedy. He wanted to become too richer.  One day he thought a plan and said “why not I have getting all the golden eggs at once from the goose”.

 One morning the foolish greedy man killed the goose to get all the eggs at once. But unfortunately, he found that there were no eggs inside the goose.

The foolish man now repented his work. Finally, he got nothing. His foolishness and greediness lost the most valuable goose.

 

Moral : To much greed is lost everything.

A Clever Fox and A sick Lion

 

Once upon a time, an old sick lion lived in the Jungle. The lion was very old, and his name was Samba. Samba could not hunt like before. So, he thought of an idea in his mind. After a few days, he announced in the forest that he was very sick.

He lay down in a cave to wait for other animals. When they came to meet him to show their sympathy, it would become his prey. The poor animals fell into his trap.

One Day, a fox named Ramba he came too, but he was very clever and cautious also.

He stood outside the cave and asked politely about the lion’s (Samba) health.

“How are you sir? Samba replied, I am very ill please come inside and meet me “. But the (Ramba) fox stayed outside and thanking the Lion for the invitation.

The fox (Ramba) said “I don’t go inside because I notice “the footprints of other animals going inside but not returning.

The fox managed to save his life. All animals came hurriedly. The fox informed all the animals about the false play of Lion. In this way, the fox saved other animals and become the favorite of all. The Samba died of starvation.

Moral : Don’t trust a fraud person.

The Wood Cutter And The River God

 

Long ago there lived a poor woodcutter in a village. He was very hard working. Every day he goes to the forest to cut trees. He sold the wood in the market, in this way he earned money.

One day the woodcutter cutting wood by the riverside. Unfortunately, the axe was failed down into the river. The river was deep. He was deep in thoughts and prayed to God. The woodcutter was sobbing and said, “ oh ! God I have no other axe. Now what I do”. The river God heard his bewailing and took pity on him. Suddenly the God came out and said to the poor woodcutter calm down, as she will help him.

She took a gold axe and appeared before him and asked is it yours? , the woodcutter said no, it’s not mine. The river God again dived into the water. This time she appeared with the silver axe and asked is it yours? He replied no, it’s not mine.

The river God again dived into the water. This time she appeared with the iron axe and asked.               The woodcutter was very glad and happy to see his own axe. The river God was very much pleased with the honesty of woodcutter and said: “you are a very good human being, but you always followed the path of honesty”.

Then she gave the gold and silver axe both as rewards for his honesty.

Then the woodcutter became a reach person. One day his friend came into his house. The woodcutter tell the story. Hearing that he made a plan and came to the same riverside forest. He let his axe dropped into the river. He pretended to weep. The river God hear his weeping. She came out with a gold axe and asked is it yours? At once he said yes, it’s mine. Please give me. The river god was very angry and said you lied to me such you are a very dishonest person. Then she dived into the water with an axe. She did not return anything. Moreover, the dishonest woodcutter lost his own iron axe.

Moral: Honesty is rewarded, dishonesty is punished.
